Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop FE from designs to a fully working interface
  • Code backend logic as required by the stakeholders

Accountant

As the Accountant, you will:

  • Be based in our new modern premises in Gzira, Malta where you will be part of the accounting department to support the group operations to deliver on targets in line with our mission and vision.
  • Develop and maintain adequate internal controls to safeguard the Group’s assets and to ensure the internal and external financial reporting is prepared timely and is true and fair to support our business.
  • Be part of an excellent Finance team, working closely with the Financial Controller, within a listed environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accounting team: Part of the Accounting team within the Finance department participating in the monthly and yearly closing processes including keeping deadlines in accordance with the Group’s financial plan.
  • Safeguarding assets: Develop and maintain adequate internal controls to safeguard the Group’s assets and to ensure the internal and external financial reporting is true and fair. Mapping key processes identifying and implementing controls and on yearly basis updating the Financial Guide (in dialogue with Financial Controller).
  • Book-keeping: Responsible for the day-to-day book-keeping in Navision. Ensure book-keeping is in accordance with IFRS as adopted by the EU.
  • Accounts Payables: Responsible for accounts payables ledger for all legal entities in the group meaning coordinating collection of invoices, ensuring group authorization policy is followed and payments are done timely of received invoices. On weekly basis preparing KPIs related to authorization status and payment status to avoid late payments. Responsible for developing controls in purchase to pay process including ensuring authorization policy followed and duality implemented
  • Reconciliation of accounts: Ensuring all accounts within responsibility area are reconciled, have supporting documentation and “signed of” timely in accordance with monthly financial plan. Accountant should on monthly basis “sign of” all accounts in writing to ensure that there are no unexplained or unreconciled discrepancies.
  • Accruals and Prepayments: Responsible for accounting for accruals and prepayments at month end and monitoring accruals and prepayments during the year.
  • Authorization policy: responsible for updating the authorization policy continuously when new employees joining.
  • Tax and Compliance: Ensuring filing of VAT returns are carried out timely on monthly basis for Rock Intention Malta by liaising with other accountants within the department. Moreover, VAT check on purchases to be carried out with every VAT return submitted.
  • Development projects: Participating and coordinating projects related to the finance department such as upgrading the finance system, mapping company processes, establishing financial guide, etc.

Business Controller

As the Business Controller, you will:

  • Be based in our new modern premises in Gzira, Malta, where you will heading the Group’s Business Intelligence (“BI”) team within the Finance department
  • Add value by providing critical financial and operational analysis, with the aim of supporting improved business performance in an efficient and effective way. This role has to be responsive to change, proactively anticipating data, insights and analytics to help the business to make the right data driven decisions
  • Work closely with Operational CFO and Management to develop the business
  • Be responsible for providing budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting for effective business decision support and financial planning
  • Be part of an excellent Finance team, working within a listed environment

Key responsibilities include:

  • Team Management: As head of the Group’s BI team, Business controller will be responsible for leading and coaching the team during the monthly and yearly closing processes including keeping deadlines in accordance to the group financial plan.
  • Business Support: Support Group CEO, Group CFO and Operational Management in business-related analysis, ad-hoc analysis such as profitability analysis, cost base analysis, conversion analysis, etc. Participating in operational meetings and, at occasions, management meetings.
  • Internal financial reporting: through the BI team ensure that automised and data-driven internal financial reports (including leading KPIs) are prepared timely and is true and fair to support our business operations.
  • Budget and Forecast: Owner of the yearly budget and forecast process coordinating the budget process internally with operations and management. Establishing framework, instructions, training and responsible for coordinating meetings and keeping deadlines (in dialogue with Operational CFO).
  • External financial reporting: Report to Group management information needed to enable the drafting of the quarterly and annual reports, published on the stock exchange.
  • Revenue reporting: Responsible for ensuring that the Group’s revenue reporting and internal systems are complete and kept up-to-date, including being involved hands-on in the revenue reporting.
  • System ownership: Owns the BI system (Qlik Sense), comprising of the data being captured by the Group’s back-office and the different dashboards targeting different stakeholders within the Group. Through such system, Business Controller will be a central link between the operational and support functions.
  • Development projects: Participating and coordinating projects related to the finance department such as upgrading the BI system, updating financial guide, financial due diligence at acquisitions, etc.

To be successful, you’ll bring with you:

  • Positive energy and motivation to learn and deliver;
  • Degree in Business Intelligence Systems and Data Mining or in Accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a data analyst and/or controller role, preferably within a large and complex international organization
  • Business and analytical skills: ability to contribute to overall business strategy and to support management team to achieve strategic goals
  • Ability to manage a team of 4+ individuals, and to work in a team with tight deadlines;
