Junior Data Analyst

Highlight Media Group (HLM) is one of the world’s most important players in several online lifestyle, entertainment and consumer segments. Our core business is search engine positioning and online lead generation; we are also a large provider of quality web content and functionality. HLM own and operate some of the largest and most qualitative online gambling guides in the world. The role will be based in Malta, and you will be working closely with many other members of the organisation to execute the overall business strategy from a development perspective.

Junior Data Analyst – Job Description: 

The Junior Data Analyst will be responsible for Data extraction, manipulation of data from various management systems. You will provide analytical support to different teams in the organisation.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze, organise, and consolidate large amounts of data from multiple sources, and present analytical output in Excel or by creating dashboards
  • Work closely with Head of BI and other teams to prioritise business and information needs
  • Create reporting documentation for internal and external use routinely and in a timely manner
  • Maintain project schedules in collaboration with other team members by monitoring program progress; coordinating activities; researching and resolving any issue

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Excel and Google Analytics
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, with the ability to think and work independently
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to prioritise efficiently while multi-tasking, dealing with interruptions and working in a high paced energetic environment
  • Team player who is willing to learn and teach other
  • Good knowledge and understanding of web analytics like Piwik and Google Analytics
  • Good understanding of working with API for fetching data
  • Knowledge of QlikView and Klipfolio is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of SQL language

Mixed Front-end/Backend Developer

HLM own and operate some of the largest and most qualitative online gambling guides in the world. The role will be based in Malta, and you will be working closely with many other members of the organization to execute the overall business strategy from a development perspective.

Responsibilities

This role includes, but is not limited to the production of all frontend activities from post-design phase to 100% implementation on web, tablets and mobile devices. There will also be some minimal backend tasks where you will have the help of other developers from the team.   • Build reusable, high quality front end components
  • Work in all phases of software development, ensure the proper usage of best practices, patterns and development methodologies
  • Provide technical related consultation plus expertise to all product managers as well as various staff members.
  • Review staging and production environments client side performance and pro-actively improve it
  • Ensure web development follows responsive paradigm
  • Maintaining existing codebase, to include troubleshooting bugs and adding new features
  • Provide technical input on decisions
  • Work with developers on a daily basis in order to implement best practices

Requirements

  • Excellent understanding of HTML 5, CSS 3, PHP
  • Experience developing  responsive web sites
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, jQuery
  • Working knowledge of design tools (e.g. Photoshop, Sketch)

Beneficial

  • Knowledge of best-practices for web performance, accessibility and usability
  • Experience with mobile-first responsive web design
  • Experience with one or more CSS preprocessors and automation tools such as gulp, grunt, webpack
  • Experience of  Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Reporting

  • Every two weeks sprint planning
